How to determine whether the air compressor has excessive oil consumption?

Oil gas separation element (hereinafter referred to as oil separation) is an important component of oil lubricated rotary air compressor and vacuum pump. Its main function is to separate the oil and compressed air from the oil-gas mixture and return the oil to the oil circulation system, so as to reduce the oil content of the gas. Oil separation is mostly used in oil injection screw air compressor. This paper discusses the application in this respect.

Generally, the oil content requirement for oil injection screw air compressor is that the residual oil content of the outlet compressed air after oil treatment is not more than 3ppm (the oil content is not more than 3mg / m3). The excessive oil content of the air at the outlet of the air compressor is usually called as high oil consumption, commonly known as oil leakage, which has been a headache for manufacturers, sellers and users for a long time, and is also one of the most common fault phenomena. In addition to polluting the post-treatment equipment, oil leakage from the air compressor will also affect the quality of products produced by users, and even cause damage to some production equipment to varying degrees.

So how to determine whether the machine has high fuel consumption? I think we should start from the following aspects:

1. First of all, it shall be ruled out that there is no oil leakage or oil leakage on the pipe surface of the machine.

2. Whether the oil level of the machine has significantly decreased. Observe whether the oil level indicator line is compared under the same working environment. For example, under the same load and pressure of 7 bar, whether the oil level changes before and after the machine is shut down for 10 minutes or whether the oil level is different.

3. For machines equipped with water separators, take samples from the water outlet of the water separator, drain the water and put it in a clean container (cup or mineral water bottle) and then settle it for about five minutes, and then observe whether there are spots or oil films of oil on the surface of the container. In general, there are only a few thin and colorful oil flowers when observing against the light. Before precipitation, the sampled water may be milky white, which is normal. For machines without water separator, observe the drainage condition of the air reservoir, and compare with the previous normal condition to see if the discharged water carries more oil.

From the above aspects, we can basically determine whether the machine has the problem of high fuel consumption.
